Feb 10th - Chief Poundmaker School's Have a Heart Day!

Have a Heart Day is a child and youth-led reconciliation campaign that brings together caring Canadians to help ensure First Nations children have the services they need to grow up safely at home, get a good education, be healthy, and be proud of who they are.
  • Classrooms sent a Valentine's themed letter supporting Have a Heart Day to the Prime Minister.

Other ideas were to:
Explore the Have a Heart Day website to download Have a Heart Day resources, and to order bookmarks and buttons!
Through activities like Have a Heart Day, we are creating a movement where the landscape of Canada is only one of honour and possibility for First Nations children.
Visit the Have a Heart Gallery to see photos from events across Canada!
Reconciliation is all of us. Check out the information sheet below for ways you can help.

Playground update (June 2016): The installation of our new playground is currently on hold. There are no further details at this time as to when it will be installed. A huge THANK YOU goes out to a Scouts Canada Scouter from Ontario that donated $100 (in January) to the school's playground fund. A thank you card and 2 Chief Poundmaker School "Be the Change" bracelets were mailed out to him. The playground should be installed by September 2016!

Excavation is currently under way in the school's playground area.

Please encourage your child(ren) to leave the markers and orange tape untouched. It marks where the land needs to be dug up, and if it is moved, will cause a delay in the placement. Also, as a safety precaution, please ask your child(ren) to not play in the dirt/mud in the marked area, or on the dirt hill.

We're getting a new playground and are fundraising for monies towards the new apparatus and a splashpark/pad, fencing, and landscaping!
We voted for the month of October and as of today, we came in 25th place! We are now a finalist!
On November 3rd, it was announced that we did not make it into the contest finals. A huge thank you to all that voted!
